Hebei Longsheng Metals and Minerals Co, ltd.

Deutsche Post DHL reported preliminary Q2’20 EBIT that increased by 25% year over year as well as introducing EBIT guidance for the full year of a 4% to 11% improvement. That makes it one of the first logistics firms to reintroduce guidance after COVID-19 began to drag on the industry.

The firm has outperformed its peers in terms of U.S. seaborne, inbound shipping with a 5.5% year over year slide in shipments in Q2 compared to an industry average 11.3% slide. By comparison Deutsche Bahn’s Schenker fell by 16.6%.

DP-DHL is still having to cut costs in response to the COVID-19 led decline in volumes including a 40% cut in its embedded workforce at Tata’s Jaguar Land Rover in the U.K. Leading users of DP-DHL’s services on U.S. inbound routes from Europe including machine tool maker Trumpf, whose shipments fell by 56.7% year over year in Q2, and Technogym whose shipments dropped by 48.4%.
